Mothering Sunday by Graham Swift

A very beautiful and elegaic novel. Well, novella, really, as it is pretty short. But it is lovely while it lasts and a nice change from the sort of shallow treatment of female characters I saw in the books by Alberto Moravia and Vladimir Nabokov that I read recently. It concerns a woman, now old but reflecting on events much earlier in her life. I found the portrayal really convincing. Excellent.
